According to local media, Mufti Rafi Usmani, a well-known Pakistani religious scholar has died on Friday in the southern port city of Karachi. He was 86. According to Geo News, broadcaster Usmani, a Darul Uloom Deoband alumnus, was born in July 1936 and suffered from multiple diseases for quite some time.

Condolences began to pour in for the death of the country's grand mufti, with President Dr. Arif Alvi paying tribute to the scholar's religious and academic services while expressing his grief.

"Mufti Rafi Usmani has rendered valuable services in fiqh, hadith, and tafsir. His religious and academic services, and services for promoting religious knowledge," the president said.

Maulana Rafi Usmani, the Mufti-e-Azam Pakistan veteran Islamic scholar, died on Friday at 86 in the provincial capital. Muhammad Rafi Usmani, born in 1936, was a religious scholar, jurist, and author. He served as the President of Darul Uloom in Karachi. He attended Darul Uloom Deoband, the University of the Punjab, and Darul Uloom Karachi. He wrote several books, including Ahkam-e-Zakat, Al-Taliqat al-nafiah ala fath al mulhim, Islam Main Aurat Ki Hukmrani, and Nawadir al-Fiqh.

Darul Uloom Karachi's current President was Muhammad Rafi Usmani. He was the son of late Mufti Muhammad Shafi, the founder of Darul Uloom Karachi, and the brother of Muhammad Taqi Usmani, another prominent Islamic scholar. Mufti Rafi Usmani, known for his knowledge of Fiqh, Hadith, and Tafsir, had written many books in Urdu and some notable treatises in Arabic.

Soon after learning of Mufti Rafi Usmani's death, the political leadership offered condolences, including Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, and PSP chief Mustafa Kamal. Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi expressed his condolences and sorrow over the death of noted religious scholar Mufti Rafi Usmani, saying that his religious services would be remembered forever.

Muhammad Rafi Usmani Illness

Many people have inquired about his health. Mufti Rafi Usmani had mild Parkinson's disease and had become very weak, unable to stand or walk without assistance. He used to mingle outside and use a wheelchair to get to the masjid for prayers. However, he had a high fever a few days ago, and after a check-up, he was diagnosed with a chest infection, which was treated, but he remained drowsy due to low blood pressure, which concerned his doctors. This was his health condition in September.
