Michael Neser is a cricketer from Australia. In domestic cricket, he plays for Queensland, as well as the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. In June 2018, he made his international debut Neser was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but migrated with his family to Queensland, Australia, when he was eleven years old, living on the Gold Coast. He began his youth cricket career with the Broadbeach-Robina Cats before making his first-grade debut for the Gold Coast Dolphins at the age of 17 in February 2008. Throughout his adolescence, he attended The Southport School, where he played in the GPS tournament and was given back-to-back Paul Norris Trophies as the school's First XI all-rounder of the year in 2006-07, as well as the Westcott Family Trophy for First XI bowler of the year in 2007. He was chosen to represent Queensland's under-19 squad in the 2008–09 season, and he was awarded a rookie contract with Queensland's state team in 2010. for the national squad.
Later that summer, representing Queensland, he made his first-class and List A cricket debuts in the Sheffield Shield and Ryobi Cup, respectively. Neser was elevated from a rookie deal to a full contract with Queensland in 2011, and while he was performing well, regular injuries made it difficult for him to lock down a permanent spot on the squad.
Later, in May 2013, he played for the IPL club Kings XI Punjab. However, the game was not going in his favor. Nonetheless, his form in Australia was good, and he was strong in both of the shorter versions of the game in the 2013-14 summer.
Neser was granted the opportunity to play for Australia's second team, Australia A, in a series of matches against South Africa A late in the 2014 winter due to his career's best form in both one day and twenty20 cricket.
Neser was nominated to Cricket Australia's Sheffield Shield squad of the year in March 2018. He joined as an overseas player for Surrey in October 2019 for the first part of the 2020 season. Neser got his first first-class century in the opening round of the 2020–21 Sheffield Shield season in October 2020.
In May 2018, he was named to Australia's One Day International (ODI) team in place of Josh Hazlewood for the series against England. On June 13, 2018, he made his ODI debut against England. He was picked to Australia's team for the 2019 Ashes series in England in July 2019. Neser was picked to Australia's Test team for the series against India in November 2020. Neser was picked to Australia's Test team for the series against South Africa in January 2021. After skipper Pat Cummins was ruled out of the second Test in Adelaide owing to a COVID-19 close contact on the 16th of December, Neser made his Test debut as Cummins' substitute.
