For 28 years, it was the longest made field goal made by Tom Dempsey, and for another 15 years, it was tied for the longest. This was the second longest field goal in NFL history. Before Dempsey's big kick, the longest field goal ever made was 56 yards, so this long-range attempt was unexpected.

Jason Elam - 63 Yards
