The Proms

The Proms, named the Henry Wood Promenade Concerts, is a eight-week classical music concert presented by the BBC that is held annually in the Royal Albert Hall in central London.  The Promenade concert is shortly known as Prom. The Proms were founded in 1895. It is now organised and broadcast by the BBC. Each season conducts concerts in the Royal Albert Hall, chamber music concerts at Cadogan Hall, other Proms in the Park events on the Last Night of the Proms. The Last Night of the Proms decides the perception of the entire Prom. It usually takes place on the second Saturday in September.

The Proms 2021

The Proms ran from 30 July to 11 September, with 52 concerts spanning 44 days and featuring 30 orchestras and ensembles, more than 100 soloists and conductors and over 2,000 musicians. Highlights of the Proms 2021 include a family concert by the Kanneh-Mason siblings and French composer Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals; and the Aurora Orchestra performing Stravinsky’s The Firebird from memory. Every Prom was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and BBC Sounds with 20 Proms on TV and iPlayer. The attendees provided proof of their Covid vaccination to enter London’s Royal Albert Hall. 

Last Night At The Proms 2021

The Last Night of the Prom took place on September 11, 2021 at 7.30 p.m. Stuart Skelton, one of the great tenors of his generation, performed on the final night. The Australian singer joined Latvian accordionist Ksenija Sidorova for the climax of the 2021 music festival. Due to the huge demand for Last Night of the Proms tickets, special booking arrangements were made. The majority of tickets for the Last Night was allocated by ballot to customers who have bought tickets to at least one other Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The Last Night of the Proms in the Park 2021 has been cancelled due to the pandemic.
