The Karnataka Ratna award is the highest civilian award given by the Indian state of Karnataka. It is given in honour of someone who has made a significant contribution in any field. The Government of Karnataka established it in 1992. This award has been given to a total of nine people.

Karnataka Ratna Award 2021
Late actor Puneeth Rajkumar will be honoured with the Karnataka Ratna award, announced on Tuesday by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Mr Bommai spoke at the “ Puneeth Namana” program, which the Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce organised to pay their last tributes to the actor. Mainly, the Kannada film industry attended the event and many political leaders from across the political spectrum. The whole family of late Dr Rajkumar were present at the event.

Eight people will get this award, which comes with a 50 gram gold medal and a certificate for their achievements. The award includes a 50-gram gold medal, a citation, a souvenir, and a shawl. Every year on November 1st, the Chief Minister of Karnataka presents the prizes in Bengaluru. Each prize includes a $100,000 cash prize, a 50-gram gold medal, and a citation. Furthermore, the government has previously allocated commercial land to suitable recipients

Puneeth Rajkumar's Karnataka Ratna Award
Mr Bommai said that “ Apart from Karnataka Ratna Award honour, his cabinet will also take decisions on getting a national award and honours for late Dr Puneeth. Plus, a memorial ceremony will occur, and he will build a befitting memorial in his honour. Mr Bommai thanked Late Dr Rajkumar family members, his fans and personnel of various government departments for their tremendous cooperation in controlling a smooth and proper funeral for Puneeth.
