Jaya Parvati 2021 Date - Jaya Parvati Vrat is observed for 5 days in the month of Ashadha. It begins on the Shukla Paksha Trayodashi and ends on Krishna Paksha Tritiya. Jayaparvati fasting can be done for five, seven, nine, eleven or up to twenty continuous years. On the vrat day, the devotees abstain from eating salted food. Salt is completely avoided during five days of the fasting period. Many devotees also avoid eating cereals and all sorts of vegetables during the five days of the fasting period.

On the first day of fasting, wheat seeds called Javara are sown in a small pot and used in Puja. The seed pot is worshipped for five days. During the Puja, a necklace made of cotton wool known as Nagla is decorated with Kumkum. The wheat seeds are watered every morning, and this ritual continues for five days. On the last fasting day, i.e. one day before Gauri Tritiya Puja, when the fast is broken after morning Puja, women keep awake the whole night and chant Bhajan and Aartis. The ritual of waking up the entire night and singing religious hymns is known as Jayaparvati Jagran. The grown wheatgrass is taken out of the pot and immersed in the holy water in the morning, either in the river or some other water body. After the Puja, the fast is broken by eating a full meal consisting of salt, vegetables, and wheat.
