Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020-21
Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 scheme was launched by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the students of North Eastern Region (NER). It is being implemented by the UGC. The scholarship is aimed to promote higher education and encourage children belonging to economically weaker section (EWS) of the NE region. Under Ishan Uday scholarship 2020 scheme, around 10,000 fresh scholarships are disbursed every year among NER students. The scheme aims to benefit the students who pursue general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and paramedical courses.

What are the Objectives of Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020-21?
The objectives of the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 for NER are:
To increase the GER (Gross Enrollment Ratio) in the NE Region.
To enhance and provide equal opportunities for higher studies in the NE Region.
Optimum utilization of NER Budgetary Allocation.
To increase the focus on professional education in the NE Region.
It is aimed to provide 10,000 fresh scholarships every year beginning from the academic year 2014-15.
What is the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020-21 Eligibility Criteria?
A student who wishes to apply for Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 must check if they satisfy Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 Eligibility Criteria. Check the Eligibility Criteria set by UGC are
Students must be a domicile of NER
Students should have passed Class XII or equivalent exam from a school situated within NER through any recognized Board of Education, including CBSE (Central Board of Secondary education), ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education), NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) within NER only.
Students should have secured admission in general degree course or technical and professional courses including medical and paramedical courses or any Integrated courses included in Universities/Colleges/Institutions recognized as under:
Universities/Colleges/Institutions included under Section 2(f), 12 (B) of UGC Act.
Deemed to be Universities that are included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and must be eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC.
Universities/Institutions/Colleges funded by Central and State Government.
Must be Institutes of National Importance.
These Universities and Institutions recognized by other Statutory councils within as well as outside
The First-year Under-graduate students only are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
For integrated degree courses, the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 will be tenable for the complete duration of the course. In case of dual degree courses, the scholarship will be tenable for the first degree only. The university will clarify the details while recommending a candidate for Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020.
The income of the parents of the student, who apply, should not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.
Transgender candidates are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The reservation for the candidates shall be followed as per the Government of India (GoI) norms.
Who are not eligible to avail Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020-21?
The following students are not eligible to apply for Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 under this scheme:
Students who are already availing scholarship for pursuing the Undergraduate programme under any other scheme(s).
Students who are pursuing courses/programs through Open Universities.
Students gaining admission through Management quota.
Students who are pursuing courses, like Diploma Courses, not leading to the award of a Degree.
If the income of the parents’ income exceeds Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.
Ishan Uday Scholarship Amount
Under the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020, an amount of Rs.5400/- per month will be given for General Degree courses and Rs.7800/- per month will be given for Technical & Professional courses including Medical and Paramedical courses. The scholarship amount will be transferred to the candidates through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary student.
What is Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020-21 Selection Process?
The eligible candidates of Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 are selected as follows:
The scheme includes fresh scholarships every year.
The distribution of slots amongst the states of NER will be done on the basis of population census (as per the last census).
If slots that are allotted in a particular state remains vacant due to non-availability of eligible candidates in the state, the unfilled slots will be distributed equitably amongst other states.
Reservation for Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates will be made as per GoI norms.
How to fill the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme Application Form?
Students who are eligible for the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 can apply online through National e-Scholarship Portal of the Government of India. Candidates must enter valid details in the required column.
Students must upload the following documents at the time of applying under the scheme on the NeSP.
Domicile certificate that is issued by the competent authority.
Provide Proof of annual income to be issued by the competent authority.
For renewals, the annual progress report and continuation of studies will be required to be uploaded/ verified by the concerned University/ Institution/ College.
Students must make sure that the Ishan Uday Scholarship 2020 Last Date of receipt of online application is 31st December 2020.
