He attended the clerkship with Associate Justice Arthur Goldberg in 1964 to 1965. He became a law professor and lecturer at the Harvard Law School from 1967 till 1980.

Many Liberal activist were forcing Breyer to retire, but the democrats are holding both the Senate and White House had left to Joe Biden to find the replacement. Stephen Breyer is expected to be present till the end of the term, then the replacement will be confirmed.
