Lemmon was born Randal Scott Lemmon on January 4, 1962, in Whittier, California, to father Richard "Dick" Lemmon and mother Phyllis Lemmon. The family transferred to Houston, where Randy attended Robert E. Lee High school and moved on to Texas A&M University, where he graduated in 1984 with a BS grade in Journalism. While at Texas A&M, he lived in Moses Hall. After performing for the University's College of Agriculture, Randy acquired a Master of Science in Agriculture degree.
