Metcalfe later expressed her intention to stay with the series. Mercedes Mcqueen is a part of the McQueen family. She is the longest-serving McQueen on the Hollyoaks series. On 26th August 2014, it was told that Jennifer had decided to quit the soap. On 20th November 2014, Mercedes was pierced to death, with her body thrown away. Jennifer Metcalfe made a brief come back in February 2015, where her character was shown to be alive, with it confirmed that she would be returning permanently.

Mercedes is played as having moments of happiness which she wrecks for herself while she tries to justify "whatever she does that's bad". Mercedes came back on 9th July 2018.
