He played other television roles including Saturday Night Live, Twin Peaks, and Total Security. Similar to his older brother John Belushi, Jim Belushi served in the Chicago theater group The Second City. During this period, he made his television debut in Who's Watching the Kids in 1978. He was a part of Brian De Palma's The Fury.
