Hugh Jackman is returning to Broadway! Following up on COVID-19, the 53-year-old actor confirmed his comeback to The Music Man on Thursday.
Jackman is seen wearing a white face mask outside the production's theatre as he shares the joyful news in an Instagram video. He cited a statement "I can't express how wonderful this moment is. Yes, we've returned, "In the video, the X-Men star remarked. "I apologise to everyone who has tickets for the previous ten days. I hope, I pray, that you'll be able to reschedule, but... I'm so happy to be back on Broadway and to bring this play — which is pure joy and full of hope, belief, and faith — back to you."

In 1957, The Music Man was a deliberate homage to a bygone era when it premiered on Broadway. It became a huge hit almost immediately. It was Willson's valentine to both his hometown of Mason City, Iowa (renamed River City in the performance) and the all-American music he played as a young flute player in John Philip Sousa's marching band. Willson's book, music, and lyrics were all written in 1912.

His intention is to flee as soon as he receives the money. Librarian Marian Paroo (Shirley Jones) suspects Harold is a fraud, but holds her tongue since her moody brother, Winthrop (Ronny Howard), is excited about the band. As Harold begins to develop feelings for Marian, he faces a difficult decision about skipping town.
Background. Meredith Willson was inspired by his boyhood in Mason City, Iowa, to write and compose his first musical, The Music Man. ... The character Marian Paroo was inspired by Marian Seeley of Provo, Utah, who met Willson during World War II, when Seeley was a medical records librarian.
