What Is Pineapple Upside Down Bundt Cake?

A cake baked "upside-down" in a single pan with the toppings on the bottom is known as an upside-down cake. The finished upside-down dish is "righted" and served right-side up by flipping it over and de-panning it onto a serving plate after being taken out of the oven. Before the batter is added, chopped or sliced fruits, such as apples, cherries, peaches, pineapple,  butter, and sugar, are typically spread on the bottom of the pan. This way, the baked-on topping is revealed when the cake is inverted. You could use a basic cottage pudding cake batter.

Ingredients Required For Pineapple Upside Down Bundt Cake

  • 1/4 cup of butter

  • 1 cup of brown sugar, packed

  • 1 can (20 oz) of drained and saved pineapple juice

  • 1 jar (6 oz) (6 oz) drained maraschino cherries sans stems

  • 1 box Super MoistTM Yellow Cake Mix by Betty Crocker

  • On the cake mix box, vegetable oil and eggs are required.

How To Make Pineapple Upside-Down Cake?

1. The oven should be heated to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Melt butter in a 13x9-inch pan in the oven. Over the butter, evenly scatter brown sugar. Place slices of pineapple over brown sugar. 

2. Each pineapple slice should have a cherry in the middle. Place the other cherries around the slices and gently press them into the brown sugar.

3. Reserved pineapple juice should be diluted with 1 cup of water. The cake batter should be prepared as indicated on the box, but instead of water, use a pineapple juice mixture. Over the pineapple and cherries, pour the batter.

4. If using a dark or nonstick pan, bake for 44 to 53 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Run a knife along the pan's edge right away to release the cake. Place a heatproof serving plate on top of the pan and flip them over.
