After you take down the final boss Ender dragon, you will be rewarded a dragon egg which is considered a trophy. A trophy egg cannot be hatched however, you have the option to add it to your inventory. To add the dragon egg to your inventory do the following steps,
After killing the Ender Dragon, a structure will appear with void blocks and an egg.
Punch it to teleport it to15-20 blocks.
Start digging right next to the egg
Dig to 3 blocks to the side of the egg.
The egg will fall into the hole.
You can now carry it home.

You can also respawn the ender dragon after you successfully defeat it. To re-summon the ender dragon you need to place it on top of the bedrock and by using a crafting tool you must make 4 end crystals. Now place all the end crystals around the egg. The end crystals will be regenerated.
