How to Play Youtube in Background Iphone?
You can make YouTube play in the background on an iphone by signing up for YouTube Premium. For a single account, YouTube Premium costs $11.99 a month, or $17.99 a month for 6 accounts in a "Family Plan." Signing up would get rid of all ads on YouTube videos, and allow you to download videos to watch offline. Also, it gives you access to both YouTube Original videos and YouTube Music, the site's music streaming service. You will get the ability to listen to audio from YouTube videos in the background, even while using other apps.
1. Sign Up for YouTube Premium
Follow the below steps to sign up for YouTube Premium.
First of all, sign up for YouTube Premium.
1. Go to the YouTube Premium homepage.
2. Click on the blue button, "TRY IT FREE," a window will open for you to enter your payment information.
3. Enter the payment information and zip code. YouTube Premium will offer a 1-month free trial, so if this is your 1st first time signing up, you won't be charged the $11.99 fee until 1 month has passed. YouTube may charge you a $1 fee at first to confirm that the payment information you've given them is valid and this dollar must be refunded within a few days.
4. The YouTube account you used to sign up for Premium would be immediately granted access to all the new features of Premium.
5. Now, to play songs in the background, open the YouTube app.
6. Go to the video that you wish to listen to in the background.
7. Once it starts playing, you can return to your phone's Home screen, and open other apps.
2. Request the YouTube Desktop Site
Instead of using the standard mobile browser site of YouTube on the iPhone, request the desktop site. It seems to work for some people. The steps to do this may differ depending on which browser you have. On Safari, you have to tap the aA symbol to the left of the address bar, and it brings up a small menu of options. Tap Request Desktop Website. On Chrome, just tap the 3 vertical dots and choose the Request Desktop site option. From there, You can play the video and return to your home screen. The video would more than likely stop playing. To resume the video, open your Control Center and click the play button there.
Some said that this no longer works with Safari, while others say it still does. To get this to work on an iPhone 11 running iOS 14.2, use the Request Desktop Website (the mobile version of the website will not work). Then lock the phone screen with Safari open and the video playing. This stopped the video from playing, and after pressing the play button on the lock screen/in the control center, the video started playing while the phone was locked. If this doesn’t work, try it with another browser or move on to the next method.
It has been confirmed that as of December of 2020 that this would work with Chrome, but you have to let the music play for a minute or two before locking the screen. Once done, the music would go silent, just hit the play button from your device’s lock screen, and the music would begin to play again.
3. Use Private Browsing
This involves Private mode on Safari. Open the Safari browser and go to YouTube. Then, open the video you wish to have played in the background. Then, you have to convert the session to a private one, and to do this, tap on the rightmost icon along the bottom bar and then hit Private. This would open the video in a private session. Once the video plays, you could exit the browser and still play the audio content by using the control center. Some people have claimed this no longer works, while others say that it still works. You cannot activate it on an iPhone 11 running iOS 14.2. It did work after requesting the desktop site.
4. Troubleshooting
When playing from a web browser, confirm that you let the music play for a bit before locking your screen. This works in Safari and Chrome in December of 2020. If you immediately lock your screen, the music will not play. If Safari and Chrome are not working, check your phone’s battery percentage. An iPhone low on power won’t permit apps to run at full capacity when the screen is locked. Charge your phone or turn off Low Power Mode if it is on. Then, go to your phone’s settings and check for any app restrictions or Screen Time limitations. Apple will not allow us to control all of the app functions like Android does, but you may find something preventing you from successfully performing the steps.
