You can only team up with the players only if you're friends with your Epic account.
If you are a console player, go to EpicGames.com and make an account.
You can become friends with anybody you want to play cross-platform Fortnite through your Epic account.
Now, you can enable it by choosing the 'Add Friends' option.
You do it on your PC or Mac by downloading the Epic Launcher, logging into your account.
Now, click the silhouette on the top right to enter your friend's Epic email address or username and click 'OK.'
