Hotaru Haganezuka

Hotaru is a fiery-tempered individual. He appears to care little, if at all, about anything other than the swords he manufactures. His love of swords is so intense that he can talk about them for hours, which is unusual even among the residents of the Swordsmith Village. The same love that drives him to create swords is also the reason he is quickly irritated (typically in a comedic way) by swordsmen who shatter his creations, particularly Tanjiro Kamado, regardless of the circumstances.

Hotaru Haganezuka Face Reveal

Hotaru is dressed in a sunflower-patterned haori and a wide woven hat with floral wind chimes dangling from the brim. His head is wrapped with spotted linen, and his face is hidden behind a Hyottoko mask (wooden festival mask), similar to Sakonji Urokodaki. He is depicted with a more muscular frame than his first look during the Swordsmith Village Arc. When Hotaru is unmasked, he is revealed to have long, black hair, keen eyes, and sharply sculpted thick brows.  However, as a result of being assaulted by Upper Rank Five, Gyokko, Hotaru now has multiple deep scars and cuts from the Demon all over his body, including an X-shaped one on his face, and has lost use of his left eye.

Hotaru Haganezuka Face Reveal Episode

Kozo Kanamori is sliced by Gyokko in the adjoining shed while desperately shielding Hotaru Haganezuka from the Demon. Unaware of their presence, Hotaru is preoccupied with mending the blade Tanjiro gave him, muttering about the extraordinary perfection of its craftsmanship. Gyokko studies him and confirms that, due to his age, he is not the chief. The Demon shouts out to him, but Hotaru does not answer and continues talking about the strangeness of the blade, which astounds Gyokko. Gyokko, envious of Hotaru's obsession with his craft, cuts him many times and summons another fish Demon to attack Kozo. Hotaru ignores him when his mask slips off as a result of the attack, revealing his face, and Kozo rushes to try to shake him out of his stupor. Gyokko aims to break the swordsmith's unwavering perseverance.
