ESPN The History 

ESPN (originally an acronym for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) is an American international primary cable sports network owned by ESPN Inc., which is jointly owned by The Walt Disney Company (80%) and Hearst Communications (20%). It's a channel. The company was founded in 1979 by Bill Rasmussen and his sons Scott Rasmussen and Ed Eagan.

ESPN broadcasts primarily from its studio facility in Bristol, Connecticut. The network also operates offices and supporting studios in Miami, New York City, Las Vegas, Seattle, Charlotte and Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. James Pitaro currently serves as chairman of ESPN as of March 5, 2018, after John Skipper stepped down on December 18, 2017. Although ESPN is one of the most successful sports networks, there have been some criticisms of ESPN. These include biased reporting, conflicts of interest, and allegations of controversy with individual broadcasters and analysts. ESPN headquarters is in Bristol, Connecticut.

As of November 2021, ESPN reaches approximately 76 million TV households in the US, down 24% from a decade ago.

In addition to the flagship US channel and its seven affiliated channels, ESPN broadcasts in more than 200 countries. It operates regional channels in Australia, Brazil, Latin America and the United Kingdom. In Canada, he holds a 20% interest in The Sports Network (TSN) and its five sister networks.
