In Destiny 2, Polaris Lance has having a hard time staying relevant. Polaris is one of the game's few Exotic Scout Rifles, and it has a lot more to offer than meets the eye.
Landing four consecutive precision hits will charge your next bullet, causing it to discharge an explosive round, dealing a great amount of damage over a short area and granting a large damage boost. More importantly, Polaris Lance's explosion counts as an additional strike when it comes to countering Champions. Polaris Lance is a fantastic option for an Explosive Payload Night Watch whenever an Anti-Champion mod for Scout Rifles is available.
Symmetry
How to obtain: Purchased from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower. Costs 1 Exotic Cipher, 100,000 Glimmer, 150 Baryon Bough, and 1 Ascendant Shard.
The Scout Rifles' minimal damage against anything over a basic red bar is one of the game's most serious flaws. Perks that enhance damage by 30% are useful, but they aren't always enough.
With its Exotic bonus, Symmetry solves this issue perfectly. Kills using this Scout's full-auto mode accumulate stacks that can be used to shoot explosive Arc orbs that track targets. It kills most majors in seconds and clears hordes of foes in a single shot, comparable to most Special weapons. When utilised appropriately, Symmetry is a powerful PvE Exotic main that solves nearly every problem Scouts face in more difficult content.
Contingency Plan
How to obtain: Legendary world Engrams
Veist Scout Rifles are some of the most comfortable Scout Rifles available. They fire swiftly, fully automatic, and with little recoil. Contingency Plan is a re-imagining of a Dead Orbit weapon from the first year, now with the added ability to roll random bonuses.
This rifle is compatible with the majority of Destiny 2's outstanding bonuses. In the first column, you can use Tunnel Vision, Surplus, and Subsistence. Frenzy, One for All, and Kill Clip are available in the second column to increase the lethality of the weapon. Contingency Plan is a good alternative to Trustee if you want something different.

The Trustee Scout Rifle is one of the most comfortable Scout Rifles you'll ever hold. It belongs to the same Rapid-Fire archetype, has a huge range, and several great bonuses.
Due to its strong design, Trustee outshines most of its competition as a Solar Rapid-Fire Scout Rifle. Perks like Redirection help Trustee advance even farther, allowing it to deal more damage to majors after killing red bars. This weapon is a superb Scout Rifle for any PvE content, pinnacle or otherwise, regardless of your roll.

This weapon can take down most majors in two headshots while both perks are enabled. The damage potential of this weapon with several headshots would make most Hand Cannons envious after you get acclimated to its slow fire rate. It also enables this Scout Rifle to two-tap in PvP, which no other Scout Rifle can do. As good as this roll is, there's almost no other perk combo that makes Transfiguration a better choice for apex PvE material than Dead Man's Tale or Night Watch.

Spare Rations and Last Man Standing were introduced in Season of the Drifter, which changed the metagame. Night Watch is a weapon that is often disregarded but still has a place in the sandbox.
This weapon works well against red bar foes, as you might imagine. Rapid Hit and Explosive Payload make this weapon a laser beam while also providing some much-needed tolerance for missed headshots, which adds some consistency. In difficult PvE content, the weapon's Explosive Payload makes it the king of countering Champions. Consider rolling with Multkill Clip instead of a weapon if you don't need to counter Champions.

Hung Jury SR4
How to obtain: Nightfall reward (rotates weekly).
Season of the Splicer sees the return of the fan-favorite Hung Jury from the original Destiny, however it isn't as powerful as veteran Guardians would remember.
Outside of the Vault of Glass raid, this is the only weapon that can roll with Firefly, a more powerful and Solar variation of Dragonfly. When combined with Subsistence, you may make an auto-loading Scout Rifle capable of clearing swarms of opponents with a few well-placed shots.
Due to its below-average damage profile, Hung Jury struggles to compete with other Scout Rifles archetypes on its own. Scout Rifles have been given new life as an add-clearing machine thanks to recent improvements in Season of the Lost. You can quickly clear out hordes of opponents with the appropriate perks.

Vision Of Confluence
How to obtain: Vault of Glass raid (Conflux, Oracle, and Templar encounters).
The Precision Frame archetype is the weakest form of Scout Rifle in Destiny 2, and Vision of Confluence is a part of it. That would seem to rule out the Scout Rifle as a viable alternative. Its perk pool, on the other hand, proves otherwise.
Wellspring is the only weapon in Destiny 2 that can roll in the first column. The second column has some fantastic benefits. Firefly allows this weapon to easily clear waves of foes, Frenzy keeps Vision of Confluence consistent in endgame PvE content, Kill Clip allows this weapon to easily kill red bars, and Thresh is an excellent complement to Wellspring. When Scout Rifles have Anti-Barrier Rounds in the seasonal Artifact, even Disruption Break renders this weapon an S-tier weapon for countering Barrier Champions.

Eternal Blazon

Eternal Blazon resembles the Scout Rifle from Destiny 1, capable of knocking out opponents at long ranges with little effort. It can be used with a variety of scopes, has a great stat package that makes landing headshots a snap, and the perk pool on this pistol is impressive.
This gun's Rapid Hit and Kill Clip is a great choice. Rapid Hit's stability enhancement makes this gun a joy to use in congested fights, while Kill Clip's additional damage allows Eternal Blazon to one-tap most rank and file adversaries with ease. With Overflow and One for All, you can get a roll as well. One for All is very helpful in pinnacle material where killing a target isn't always viable.

Dead Man's Tale
How to obtain: Presage Exotic Quest mission.
So far in Destiny 2, Tex Mechanica hasn't made a poor weapon. The lethality of a 120 RPM Hand Cannon is combined with the range of a Scout Rifle in the Dead Man's Tale. To put it another way, this rifle is fantastic at taking down targets at any distance.
After five precision hits, this weapon gains a 40% damage boost. Majors struggle to live when Dead Man's Tale begins to unload on them, and no rank-and-file adversary can survive a few shots of this weapon. You can even take Dead Man's Tale to Master-tier stuff if you use it in conjunction with a damage buff like High-Energy Fire. That's a huge feat for a Scout Rifle.

The Mida Multi-Tool is one of those weapons that's just fun to play. It encourages you to be quick, daring and take on enemies a bit closer. While it may be lacking extensive perks, it makes up for it with extremely high aim assist and incredible stability and reload speed.
Vision of Confluence was one of my favorite weapons in Year 1 of Destiny. It holds up just as well in Destiny 2 and is a fun gun to play with. Although scout rifles are in a weird spot in the meta, it is still worth keeping if you find a good roll. Vision of Confluence only drops from the Vault of Glass raid.
