According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is now Asia's richest man, with a net worth of $88.5 billion. According to the index, Adani surpassed Reliance Industries Ltd. CEO Mukesh Ambani, who has a net worth of $87.9 billion, took the top spot on Monday. To date, Adani's fortune has increased by $12 billion. The majority of the 59-year-fortune is made up of shares in Adani Group, the conglomerate he created. Adani Green Energy's stock has risen by more than 44 percent so far this year, while Adani Transmission's stock has risen by 15 percent.
According to the magazine Business Today, Adani has done well for himself, especially given he dropped out of college to work as a diamond sorter in the 1980s. According to the Financial Times, he began importing and exporting other goods in 1988 and gradually moved into other businesses with the help of loans.
