Ashraya Yojana scheme

Every Grama Panchayat is required to prepare separate micro-projects for each household that are identified. The micro-projects are then integrated other plans which are done on an annual basis of the Grama Panchayats. Funds of the Grama Panchayats, contributions by Block and District Panchayats, State government funds and centrally sponsored schemes are combined for this scheme.
On the first year of this scheme, Grama Panchayats in the State came up with many micro-projects involving the rehabilitation of more than 8233 destitute families. 

Salient Features of Ashraya Yojana

Some of the features of this scheme make ashraya yojana a unique scheme. Some of the salient features of the scheme include

  • Kudumbashree CDS is the agency that is designated for the implementation of this scheme.

  • NHGs, ADS, CDS, the Grama Panchayat Committee will identify the Destitute families.

  • The three-year duration was extended through projects for continued support to the poor.

  • NHG prepared Individual micro-projects for every destitute family.

  • Grama Panchayats decided to provide food to these family. 

  • Grama Panchayat’s Plan was integrated with many micro-projects combined at the CDS level.

  • Electrification was provided by the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana scheme.

  • Drinking water scheme was provided through the special scheme of Kerala Water Authority (KWA) covering many families.

  • Tribal families were brought Special Ashraya Projects which are under Tribal Sub Plan.

  • By various government circulars, G.O, and directions that have been issued over the years, Ashraya evolved into a comprehensive scheme.

  • The ceiling of the scheme was raised by 40% by 40 lakhs.

What are the Eligibility Standards for Ashraya Yojana 2020?

Applicants who need to apply for Ashraya Yojana Scheme 2021 have to fulfil the following criteria:

  • The Applicant must be a legal and permanent resident of the state of Karnataka.

  • Applicant’s household income should not exceed 32,000 for a year.

  • Applicant should not have or own a pucca house.

The step-by-step procedure to apply for the Ashraya Yojana:

  • Visit the official portal of Karnataka’s Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Limited.

  • Click on the Registration link.

  • Enter all the details like applicant’s name, date of birth, address of the applicant, father’s name, income details, gender, contact details, Mandal, district and village name, and Aadhaar card number.

  • Upload all the required documents such as the front and back part of your Aadhar card, a clear passport size photo, and your income certificate.
